Cannabidiol (CBD) exploded onto the US scene in 2019, providing natural relief to people worldwide! But did you know that Hemp has other minor cannabinoids (aka molecules) within its DNA? These minor cannabinoids tote their own benefits to us independent of CBD or THC. Many companies have created minor cannabinoid oils, usually combined with CBD to provide the highest level of natural relief possible.
Let’s discuss some of the newer CBD products you need to try in 2021, and how those products may provide more benefit to you than CBD alone.
Though CBG is generally present in less than 1% in most strains of cannabis, it’s technically the Grandparent of the infamous major cannabinoids known as THC and CBD. To obtain higher yields of CBG, breeders are experimenting with genetic manipulation and cross-breeding of plants.1
In addition, some CBD oil manufacturers have begun extracting CBG and combining the extract with CBD. CBG is currently undergoing research into its anti-inflammatory properties, said to be more effective than CBD alone. CBG and CBD provide a powerful combination to help people find relief.
Other potential benefits include, but are not limited to1:
CBN was the first cannabinoid to be identified and isolated from cannabis3. Unlike other cannabinoids, CBN does not stem directly from CBG or Cannabigerolic Acid (CBGA), but rather is the degraded product of Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (THCA).
CBN can be sedative, anticonvulsant in animal and human studies, and has demonstrated significant properties related to anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and anti-MRSA activity. This minor cannabinoid has significant anticonvulsant, sedative, and other pharmacological activities likely to interact with the effects of THC. It was shown to decrease heart rate without affecting coronary blood flow, to decrease intestinal motility, and to inhibit platelet aggregation.3
Much like CBG mentioned above, brands have begun creating tinctures that combine CBN with the power of a Full Spectrum CBD. When combined with the low levels of Delta 9 THC (< 0.3%) found in Full Spectrum CBD Oil, CBN acts as a powerful sedative making it ideal for a sleep aid. If you suffer from insomnia, consider giving a CBN product a try.
Delta 8 THC is a powerful cannabinoid native to the cannabis flower. Delta-8-THC is an isomer of CBD, which is a derivative of hemp and CBD, a cannabinoid found in hemp, and is found in our products with less than 0.3% Delta-9-THC. In other words, Delta 8 THC is sort of a middle ground between hemp, CBD and THC-Delta-9.
According to The National Cancer Institute, Delta-8 THC is defined as “an analogue of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) with antiemetic, anxiolytic, appetite-stimulating, analgesic, and neuroprotective properties.” They also stated that “this agent exhibits a lower psychotropic potency than Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-9-THC), the primary form of THC found in cannabis.”
In layman’s terms, the technical name for THC (you know, the thing that intoxicates you when you consume cannabis) is Delta 9 Tetrahydrocannabinol. While Delta 8 THC may share the “THC,” it is a completely different chemical that creates an entirely unique profile that has puzzled the hemp industry over the past few years. Though Delta 8 is less abundantly found in cannabis plants compared to delta 9 THC, selective breeding and molecular isolation are some methods used to extract this unique concentrate.
Delta 8 THC that is naturally extracted from Hemp is legal in the United States and is quickly gaining popularity. Because it provides a euphoric state without increasing Anxiety, foggy headedness, or paranoia, it makes as an excellent alternative to Delta 9 THC.
There are well over 100 minor cannabinoids discovered to date within cannabis DNA. CBG, CBN, and Delta 8 THC are just a few of these newly discovered cannabinoids you need to try in 2021. They provide a multitude of benefits and should be added to everyone’s daily CBD regiment. As cannabis gains popularity and legality around the globe, additional research into the plant is trending up. We have just begun to scratch the surface of what this wonderful plant can do for the human race.
